Will rain affect today's application?

Answer: Rainfall will allow fertilizer and pre-emergent products to enter the soil where they will be effective.  An equivalent of 1/2 to 1 inchs of precipitation (rainfall or irrigation) is needed for this.  We use surfactants when we treat existing weeds, which enable herbicides to stick to the leaf surface of weeds even during periods of light to moderate rain at the time of application.  Extremely heavy rainfall in a short period of time however may decrease the effectiveness of controlling existing weeds.  If weeds do not begin wilting and dying out within 10-14 days, please call our office for re-treatment.  Generally speaking any help we get from Mother Nature in the form of rainfall will be far more beneficial than not.  We will not apply products if water is standing in large areas of your lawn.
